METHOD STATEMENT – HEAVY LIFT / OOG
The following method statement provides an overview of how Freight Forwarder will perform and manage the specific scope of work for this contract for the handling of Cold Box at Baltimore Port
In this regard we envisage the scope of work to be executed will include all processes and activities as outlined in the Method Statement as stated here below:
In assuming responsibility for all heavy and over – sized shipments we will:
a) Check the cold box outer condition to insure no visible damage on the Cold Box – take photographic evidence to include in his report
b) Have a tool box talk with Port Authorities and Stevedores Personnel to insure that they are working under his instruction for safe offloading/loading of cargo on Mafi Trailer
c) Check the Lifting and Lashing Points and make sure that stevedore personnel are using the lifting points as indicated on the cold box and on the drawing
d) Check all equipment to ensure that they are apparently in Good Condition and have valid certificate
e) Check the condition of the Crane to make sure that it is in apparent Good Condition and have the capacity to lift the cold box
f) Insure cargo is lifted from the lifting points as indicated in the drawing and on the cold box
g) Center of gravity is taken in to consideration at the time of offloading the cold box on Mafi Trailer
h) Spreader bar is used for lifting the cold box (photographic evidence will be provided in Surveyor Report)
i) Take photographic evidence of loading and lashing of the box to include in his Report
j) Ensure that the cold box is lifted using appropriate size of spreader bar for safe offloading/loading of cold box
k) Insure that the cold box is stored at Baltimore Port in safe condition –
l) Take photograph of cold box stored at Baltimore Port on the Mafi Trailer
m) At time of loading cold box with Mafi Trailer on vessel – make sure that Marine Surveyor is available to supervise the lashing of Mafi trailer and cargo in vessel
n) Insure that Mafi Trailer is lashed in Vessel using lashing points as given in Drawing
When this comes in, we place this on a mafi per WWL’s instruction. WWL works their vessels and plans their storage on the vessel. All cargo is loaded under deck and stowed according to the vessel planner’s instruction. The box will be secured to the mafi at the time it is unloaded from the truck. Once the mafi is towed on the vessel the mafi is lashed/secured to the vessel. Vessel’s equipment such as a mafi has a standard lashing to the vessel which WWL does all the time. For stowage information, operations for
WWL will have to confirm that just prior to loading.
